Chinese businessman thanks Thai police for rescuing him from his own mafia

BANGKOK: -- A Chinese businessman who was held for ransom in a Bangkok hotel room has thanked the Thai police for his release.

 

Jian Tian Ming, 60, who came to Thailand to do business in August ended up falling victim to a gang of three mafia men from his own country, reported Thairath.

 

They took him to Cambodia where the businessman racked up millions in debts at a local casino. They then held him and demanded money over the phone from the victim's daughter still in China.

 

They asked Jian Long Na, 29, to transfer 300,000 yuan (1.5 million baht) to secure his release. Instead she sent just 700,000 baht - and promptly informed the Thai cops.

 

Officers at Prayakrai police station and tourist police did the rest.

 

They found the gang at the Thong Tara Hotel in Charoen Krung Road in Bangkok.

 

They were holding the victim at the hotel.

 

Arrested yesterday on warrants were Jo Jun Hong, 55, Liang Jeu Wing, 53, and Sui Seu Wei, 57. They all denied the charges of extortion.

 

The victim thanked the Thai police for their prompt action to secure his release at a press conference yesterday.

He comes to Thailand, some fellow chinese guys tell him to go to Cambodia, he racks up millions of debt at the casino, then they take him back to Thailand to hold him hostage and demand ransom for his release? 

How about investigating the casino??

She only paid half of the ransom money. I guessed she presumed she would get all of her father back not just half? Boy these mafia boys are getting dumber than a bag of hammers.

I hope this guy has a better trip next time. I had a run in with the Thai mafia years ago, so I do know

how scary this kind of experience is.  I still enjoy going to Thailand but after I had my own eyes

opened, I am not trusting while in the country.
