rooster59
Gotta catch 'em all - Met Police show drug case suspects as Pokemon at news conference Image: Thairath BANGKOK:-- There seems to be no end to the innovations of the Thai police. In the latest development at Region 1 of the Met Police callous drug suspects were shown as cute Pokémon cartoon figures. At least it was fun and meant that the prime minister's edict to protect suspects' human rights was kind of being followed. A jolly time was had by all - it was the weekly briefing for reporters in which division deputy Sompong Chingduang announced the latest arrests and successes from the crackdown on crime over the September 5 - 10 period. A chart depicted a serious drugs case with the suspects who were not yet caught replaced by Pikachu and his cute mates. No one needed to keep a straight face as Sompong - affectionately know as Big Too - led the Saturday "sanuk". More serious were the latest figures that showed 173 suspects were now in custody across the region in 152 separate cases. Much of it was theft of motorcycles, gambling, drugs and busts related to the sex trade. But one was singled out for mention - a bag snatch on a Burmese nurse, holidaying from the UK, who has a British husband. The victim, named as Miss (sic) Dehlaing lost a sentimental wedding memento from her bag as she was eating at a Pratunam chicken rice stall. But cops saved the day when the thief was swiftly nabbed much to the victim's delight resulting in the return of her treasured item. Not a single Pokémon was used in depicting this case. HiSoLowSoNoSo
Pokémon and Pokémon character names are trademarks of Nintendo. But as we all know the smart Thai police are the god guys (As I read on a big poster last time when visiting the immigration office for an extension that all bad guys are out ) so they could not possibly have used Nintendos characters without permission! docshock13
Police have also identified the suspected ringleader as none other than the dastardly Doraemon. Police have applied for an arrest warrant for Doraemon and hope to receive the warrant in 2 weeks time at which time they hope to make an arrest. However, police said it is likely Doraemon will already have fled the country by that time.

williamgeorgeallen
poking fun at our savior the good general for not being allowed to parade suspects in front of the cameras. stupid cops should be using proper photos of the suspects and not letting anyone with a camera into the briefing. its more important to poke fun at the general than it is is to catch drug dealers? ok. Say it ain't so, surely not Blossom? Now the mayor of Townsville, well that's another matter, he's well dodgy. And as to the darkness that clearly haunts Buttercup, a natural enforcer of any criminal enterprise if turned to the dark side. gemguy
And the Police should be characterized as Mickey Mouse, his side kick Goofy and their drug sniffing dog Pluto, used as a serious warning to all those bad boy drug dealers and drug users.
