Best Thing You Have Ever Found......

Featured Replies

I left my Apartment in Tokyo this morning on my way to the airport, I was walking towards Roppongi Station when I spotted something on the pavement, up against a wall and some leaves nearly covered it.

I walked past, then decided to check it out, it was a Cartier Watch............lucky me.....Unfortunately a Ladies model , but what a find!

I am in Hong Kong now waiting my connection and have been upgraded to business class....also I went to the duty free shop where they sell Cartier watches in Hong Kong airport and they confirmed its not a copy.

So all in all a good day, whats the best thing you have ever found, and kept !

:o

I always thought one should hand in found property to the police ?? (Maybe not the best idea in some countries though)

If you keep something you find are you stealing it? :o

I found a B1,000 baht note attached to a ticket showing the bar-girls earnings for the previous night - more interesting than anything...

My mate found an envelope in a post office in London with UKP1,000(B70,000) in it! Now that is a find!

How could they tell so easily? For confirmation I would expect it would need to be at least opened up to check the workings. Sorry, don't want to rain on your parade. :o

Anyways, let us know, how much was the style you found worth?

edit: Sorry just noticed you found this in Tokyo. Definitely more chance of it being real than if you found it in Bangkok! :D

I have been struggling to finish this post by mentioning something I found, but I can't think of anything more than a few marbles and the occasional porno mag discarded in the park, a top find as a kid! :D

I work security in the states and I use to work at a Shopping Mall, One night one of the cleaning crew found a checkbook and it was a wallet also, whole bunch of credit cards and the big thing 3,000 dollars in cash. It was a ladies wallet. The cleaning lady turned it into me, Of course I had to inventory it and put it in lost and found. But if you find it how can that be stealing, say the cleaning lady or myself decided to keep it. would I or the cleaning lady be accused of stealing??

Stealing? Probably not. But you do have the moral responsibility to at least try and find the poor person who's lost it. :o

I found a gold (unfortunately not real) cigarette holder in the club last night, which I found so incredibly exciting at the time. I kept it and smoked all my cheap cigarettes through it, thinking i looked real good. Unfortunately when I woke up this morning(ish) it was once again lost, along with my new jacket, some money and a bit of my dignity (not too much though) :o

Oh yes of course, but i'm not sure if we kept it would it be stealing, Because of the fact it had her ID in it, we could locate her to the best of our abilities. Say you just find the same 3,000 dollars in a paper bag on the street, would you take it to the police then?? :o

I found a cajun style "Hohner" accordian at an estate sale for 50 dollars, appraised at 1800 dollars. :o

In the UK there's law about stealing by finding. Not sure about in the LOS though. Most probably not. Lost a couple of thousand baht in a taxi once. The bell boy in the hotel told me not to worry as he effectively said what goes round comes around - lose some today find some tomorrow. Placated me at the time. Not so sure that he'd have been so philosophical if it'd have been his 'gnern' though.Still "rich farang", etc. One thing that's for sure, there's no such thing as a universal morality when it suits.

I found a bum bag in the toilets of a cafe in Ibiza a few years ago. There was a wallet with about 500 Euros in it, credit cards, ID, and a bag of something that looked similar to Cocaine in it.

Did I hand it in or keep it?

Not telling........ :o

Would that be classified as the Alternative Route ??? :o:D:D

NOPE

I found a fabulous Asian antique at a flea market in the USA--a small terracotta statue of a Chinese soldier, for which I paid $50. I kept it on a prominent shelf in my living room, displaying it to any art critics who just might come to visit.

A month later, I found the exact same "antique" at the Seattle Art Museum gift shop----not really an antique but a copy which looked EXACTLY like mine--which convinced me that my find was NOT an antique. Price? $7 :o

Since then, found the same thing at Chatuchak Market for about 200 baht. Next time I find it, they'll be giving it out as a free sample on the street corners in Isaan.

In Australia there is an offence of 'Steal by finding.'

Aussies are supposed to hand in found property to the police, who will issue a receipt and then try to locate the owner. If unsuccessful after three months, the police will return the goods to the finder.

Yea BM,

I took it to a watch guy in Pattaya and he said it's 100%, even offered me 30,000 Baht for for it, which I declined.

Amazing the detail that can be seen when looked at through a watchmakers magnifying glass.

Rememeber going to a posh joint in Chelsea, standing at the bar looking at the prices thinking Wow, expensive, my mate comes back from the toilets, orders a bottle of Champagne 4 glasses and drags me to 2 sloany type ladies, Im thinking your mad, thats way too expensive, etc etc. Turns out, went to the toilet, no loo paper, so searches around and finds a loo roll behind him, in the cardboard roll bit, 500 pounds and a lump of mary jane, smiles and thinks lets have a good night

I found a lottery ticket, which happened to have won me a fortune...................... then I woke up :o:D

I found a hundred dollar chip on the floor of a Melbourne casino. I kept it and turned it into $2700 - was lady luck on my side or what that night?

Please write what you've found, NO wife's or GF's , since who hasn't!

I found, - Ali Baba and his 40 robbers, - On this thread.

Shame on you.

Some evil person found the $400 I lost a few years ago. Just fell out of my pocket I think... That was the last time I carried a lot of money for no real reason. I bet the jerk who found my money probably went out and wasted it on drugs and booze!

I myself found a $100 dollar bill in a secret compartment of an old wallet! Yes, I kept it. :o

Found a rolex watch in the gents toilet few years back while working in the restaurant as a chef. The first thouht was to keep it but was afraid tat the owner might come back for it. Was thinking tat the owner must be 1 of the customer cos no one in the restaurant wears a rolex. The fear of losing my job makes me give up the watch to the boss and at tat time i didnt noe whether its genuine or fake. 3 months later when i totally forget about the incident, the boss pass me the watch and say i could keep it.His policy is wat ever found in the restaurant is not claim after 3 months the finder keeps it. Was thinking tat it must be fake or else how come the guy never came back and the boss could have kept it without me knowing den one fine day i brought it to a watch dealer to check it outand guess wat................................its real cheers chongaew

The best thing I ever found was a real home after many years of wandering.
