Hello people.  Has anyone ever used one here in Thailand before?  Im not talking boxes that come with your bank account in which you apply and wait, i mean actual private firms that lease you a box for a year.  There are a couple of firms in Silom.  One of them used to be run by G4S who are obviously a world wide company but they seem to have gone and it is now a private firm.  Can these places be trusted do you think?  I cant remember hearing any news reports about them over the years, im guessing they should be ok to store a couple of nice watches?

Any experience with this type of thing here would be appreciated, thanks!

cblockers.com

Charoenkrung road near Saphan Thaksin BTS stop.

Used them some years ago for 3 years and they are reputable and safe.

I've seen their website but there isn't any info about ownership of the box contents in the event they go into liquidation or whatever.

Maybe it's unlikely that would happen but what recourse does one have if they did go belly up?

Why don't you want one from a bank? I use  Krung Sri Ayuthaya and only pay 600 baht a year.

ALmost all the banks are asking people interested in safety deposit boxes to take out some kind of savings/insurance vehicle as a condition of rental.

Needless to say, the products are crap

All they asked me to do was open a savings account with 15,000 in it. I had to shop around as my own banks ones were all being used.

How long ago was that?

when I used them it was operated and managed by g4s, the world's leading security company. Highly unlikely they go into liquidation. That was many years ago though, but a short phone call should clarify ownership
