BANGKOK: -- Bangkok police have announced the arrest of a fourth year university student and his gang.

In two rooms in the Din Daeng area of the city they found "ice" (crystal methamphetamine) and a cache of guns and bullets, reported Daily News.

Arrested - but not paraded for the press as per recent instructions by the prime minister - were alleged ringleader Kasama Tosap, 24, a student studying political science, Wattana Rithidech, 25, Miss Pensini Panwa, 20 and Chalermsak Suk-iam, 25.

Taken into evidence were five guns including an M3, a Remington and Thai made weapons and a large quantity of ammunition. Police also discovered drug taking equipment.

Kasama was apprehended on a motorcycle acting suspiciously in the Soi Na Thong area of Din Daeng by police investigating a drug deal. He had no drugs on him but admitted taking drugs.

Police went to search where he lived and found 100 grams of ice and the weapons. In another room rented by the student they discovered more drugs and two other alleged accomplices.

All the people arrested were charged with drugs' possession with intent to sell and firearms offences.

Kasama told police that he bought the drugs over the phone from a man in Hua Hin and got the guns from the internet.

Would be very interested to see what kind of jail time these idiots get, especially as these guys had in their possession (room) significantly more than 61 pills worth of ecstasy. The Australian from Pattaya recently got a double life sentence, these clowns have guns also. Surely that must magnify the charges they face, I guess we'll never know as this will be the first and last time we'll hear about this case

Fully Agree.

Please bring back the pointing

How else are these kids going to learn if they are not publicly humiliated?

Hopefuy we just have to wait for a conviction ?

They will be told not to do it again. A complaint will probably be lodged stating they were humiliated by not have the finger pointing session. Fune of Baht 500 and go home.

that is an M3 world war 2 grease gun. probably worth a few dollars to the right collector. cops obeyed the general, surprising, and they still got their photo taken. win for all, except maybe the suspected crims who will probably have to pay some sort of crime. maybe they could sell the gun to the cops to pay the fine, or do the cops already own it? thai law is very complicated.

With such an explosive combination of political science and " war weapons" with a huge cache of ammunition god knows what else is under the bed or in the cupboard ,all indicate that they were planning a coup maybe against the head of the school or university ???

If an Aussie gets 50 years for 61 Ecstasy tablets, this guy with 100 grams of ice, plus a multitude of "war weapons", should get at least 100 years or more. Will follow the case to see if there is equal justice for everyone in Thailand

Probably not,  just a week playing at being a monk for making merit ( seems to exonerate nearly everything )  and 500 baht fine..

Guns from the internet??? Thai made weapons?? they mean machetes??

I've always wondered what kind of job political science will land one, guess that was something the students was also contemplating......

A great pointing opportunity gone begging!

I'd just point out that pointing isn't the point, being robbed at gunpoint at the cash-point is; though with the Thai made weapons the pointer may be disappointed upon misfiring and conclude his endeavor pointless by yelling 'What's the point!'

Jail for six months, community service of 40 hours per week for next five years, suspend or disqualify from holding a driving licence for 5 years and same as for Passport along with their names listed on Immigration authorities disqualified persons list so they cannot leave the country or re-entry during next five years. Second offence, jail for 10 years.

Maybe there will be some deterrent lesson to be learned for others.  :coffee1:

Or hand them over to Duterte?

does not sound like a joking matter to involve Duterte.

this is a far more serious matter than community service etc

TV members are in a class of their own.  They have been arrested and even charged BUT NOT CONVICTED. Yet members here already have them guilty and their heads should be served on a platter.  We all know the reliability of police evidence.  I'm not saying that these guys will not be found guilty, but until then......

Pointing and parading etc would not happen in your own countries.

Why not make lynch mobs legal then you could all join one.
