90 day reporting

Featured Replies

Hi, can anybody give me a heads up with a 90 day reporting issue. I am currently living in Thailand on a Retirement Visa.

I wish to return to my home country for a visit, however, I will be in my home country when my reporting date is due. I know I have to go to immigration for a  departure stamp of some kind, but not sure how this affects my 90 day reporting. Does my reporting date change?

If you leave the country before your 90 day report is due, no report is necessary because you have not been in the country for 90 days and the clock starts again at day one when you return.

You don't need to go to immigration for any kind of stamp. You do need a re-entry permit to keep your  extension of stay (it is not a visa) or permit to stay from a expired OA visa when you enter the country after your trip.

As said you do not need to worry about doing a report of staying longer than 90 consecutive days in the country since you will be leaving before the 90th day.

I left before 90 days, but still went to immigration on my return on the original 90th day and was told it was reset by leaving the country. So I agree with SpokaneAI

I did my 90 day report today and also got a re-entry stamp as I plan to be out for a few days next month. No mention of the 90 day count being re-set when they handed me my passport back. Based on whats been written here I think I'll pass by immigration once I get back just to make sure when the 90 days are actually up.

The title of the TM47 form for 80 reporting states the following.

FORM FOR ALIEN TO NOTIFY OF STAYING LONGER THAN 90 DAYS

Also this from immigration website.

If a foreigner leaves the country and re-enters, the day count starts at 1 in every case.

It cannot get any clearer than the above.

I do it all the time.... this is a fact..  Example so it is clear to everyone I hope..

Before you leave as noted make sure you have a re-entry permit, if not already!

Your 90 day report date is Oct 1, 2016,  you have 7 days before and after to report.

You left the country September 20,  and came back November 1st, 2016 your TM6 arrival card is stamp November 1st, 2016  the clock now starts to run on your new 90 days reporting date which should run to February 1st, but I make sure to show up a week before then to make sure.

This is the old days maybe a little over a year in Jomtien, can't speak for any other location.  You use to have to fill out a form and have a bunch of other stuff, like where you live etc... now once they got you in the computer all you got to do today is get a number give them your passport.  The guy will open it and look at your TM6, current arrival card, then go to the form with the old pass due reporting date, if he is on top of his game will see why you didn't report by looking at your new TM6 arrival card as soon as he enter the TM6 number the machine will kick out a new reporting date somewhere around late April or 1st of May.

I'm the type that take nothing for chance. I leave the country and as soon as I come back I go down and report.  Several times  back the lady look at the old reporting form, looked at my new TM6 and saw I was out of the country and said " you do not need to report and explain exactly what happen above. Took my old reporting form cross off the old date and wrote in the new one.

I like you my reporting date was August 15th, 2016, I was out of the country for 3 months, I arrived back August 31st, now my clock start to run to near end of November for my new reporting date. In fact I just crossed off myself August 15th and wrote in  November 28th, done it a number of times never had a problem.

Hope that wasn't too  long and some of you fell asleep?

You can do the report up to 15 days (changed years ago) before your report date or 7 days after including the report date in the count.

You are showing 3 months in your example not 90 days. With a date of entry on November 1st the report would be due on January 29th.

There is no need to go the office after re-entering the country. Just count the 90 days and do your report on or before that date or up to 6 days after.

In the need to be 100% correct you missed to comprehend the following.

1.  Although I in general wrote 3 months, it is actually 92 days, not being anal retentive that is why I said "  I make sure I show up a week earlier " in your own words " 6 days after "  still put me in the range if I wanted to be anal retentive about it.

2. I never said he had to go down to the office.  What I posted was a example years back as to what I or one had to do. You missed Para " This is the old days "

A few years ago I missed my 90 days report by 2-3 weeks, due to a medical emergency of my wife in Pattaya, by the time I notice, I went down with the hospital bills etc.. to explain hoping to avoid the fine. No deal No sympathy from the guy who sits at Window 5,  I paid and he explained at that time to me " 7 days before and 7 days after.  Maybe it has change?  Maybe some actually has the answer?  But the fine then was 2,000 baht and I think it is still the same today?

My response is a general opinion based on my own experience in Jomtien.

I never thought I would see anyone argue with Ubonjoe.

Read ubonjoe's post for the correct information.

I did not respond to Ubonjoe, because I want to argue with him. His information is correct it is just his time frame in his respond to me as to what I wrote from my own experience in Jomtien is a bit off as to how one look at it.  We all know what is place on their Website and actually how it is applied in each immigration are two different things.

I look at it as respectfully to agree to disagree on certain details.

OK, so when I re-enter, do I have to report that I'm back in the country within 24 hours of arriving?

No you do not. You don't need to a report until 90 days from the date you you enter the country.

There are 2 separate issues, 90 day reporting and reporting an alien. You need to be clear on what you are asking or you will get confused by the answers.
