China’s second space lab blasts off from Gobi desert

BEIJING: -- It’s lift off for China’s second prototype space station.

The uncrewed lab blast off from the Gobi desert around 10pm local time.

Next month two crew will dock the station to carry out research.

Tiangong 2, meaning Heavenly Palace, is a key part of the country’s plan to have a permanently staffed space station by the early 2020s.

Beijing is hoping to establish itself as a space power, and insists its programme is for peaceful purposes. Something which the US has called into doubt. They said some elements could be used to block access to satellites during times of conflict.

They need a bigger rocket. This one only holds 3 people. They need a rocket the size of a large condo, containing

5,000 + people; help control the population. Send one condo into space everyday. 1.8 million/year.

Well good on them... wish them the best of luck!

The good old USA has had its head in the sand of deserts way to long to look up and do anything constructive...

They just sent out the first quantum satellite as well recently ....is great to see them making something that others would hope to copy

Good for the Chinese morale :P
