How to change my reason for extension to stay?

Featured Replies

I need to change my reason for extension to stay from marriage to work. I'm getting divorced soon,so do I only need the signed divorce document, and my work permit to get the extension for 1 year changed,or will I need all my employers documents used to obtain the permit to begin with? Thanks.

I will have a new Non immigrant B visa before I go to immigration. I currently have a non O with 1 year extension.

You will need a long list of documents to apply for the extension based upon working. If you have a new non-b visa you will not be on an extension of stay. It will end as soon as you leave the country to get the non-b visa.

From Bangkok immigration website.

Remember that your current extension of stay ends the day of divorce so you will need to immediately leave or apply for extension (which without reasons would be a week to leave).

But i plan on getting my new non immigrant B visa, then my permit ,before i get my divorce. So will my current extension automatically expire, and i dont need to show proof of divorce to immigration once i apply for a new extension to stay on the last 30 days of my ne visa?

My wife has threatened to go to immigration after the divorce to make sure i dont try to live out my existing reason for extension to stay. If she doesnt go then i dont need to mention my divorce to immigration? Or do I?

My employer has all of this ready, now only waiting for the permission cor tor3(im sure im mis pronouncing this)  form from ministry of labor to allow me to get the permit.

OK you will leave without a re-entry permit and obtain new visa and return using that for a 90 day stay and your previous extension of stay will have ended by that action; and then you leave the wife and make the new application so that should work out fine.  I would have the divorce paperwork with me in case they are curious but it should be obvious with your new entry that the old extension had ended.

Your extension will end on the date you leave the country when the departure stamp is done. That is why you need a re-entry to keep it valid when you re-enter the country.

You will be entering with a new visa which starts a new entry.
