Counterfeit Banknotes Used in Naklua

NAKLUA: -- At 1.30am, on the morning of September 19, Banglamung police were called to the Nongploy Kaotom (boiled rice) shop on Sukhumvit Road, Naklua after counterfeit banknotes were discovered.

 

At the shop customers and staff had detained forty-two year old Mr. Somchai Kerdsuk who had tried to use the notes to buy food and drink.

 

Officers confiscated five 1000 baht notes and some items he had bought with one of them.

 

The forty-two year old shop owner, Ms Sureeporn Sattra, said that the suspect had ordered food and a bottle of alcohol costing 320 baht. He have her a 1000 baht note that, she says, felt suspicious.

 

She inspected it closely as she has been paid with counterfeit money before, and noticed that this too was a fake.

 

The suspect has been charged with possession and distribution of counterfeit banknotes and the investigation will now be expanded in the Naklua area to try to identify the supplier.

What was the drink? Dom Perignon???

It quite clearly states he paid a 320 baht bill with one of them!

More interesting is the fact that the police confiscated his boiled rice and bottle of Lao khao.
