Non o visas now difficult to get?

Featured Replies

Just reading on a expat facebook page a guy says on the Thai embassy website in Australia they are stating non o visas will only be issued on a case by case basis and only under special circumstances from now on. A few other guys from the USA chimed on and said non o visas have been difficult to obtain in the States for the last 2 years. Any truth to this? Sounds like a load of clap trap

It depends upon what the non-o visa is based upon.

Getting multiple entry visas of any type are not available at honorary consulates in many countries since August 15. Australia and the US is among those countries.

I have seen nothing about it on the embassy website in Australia.  The Brisbane honorary consulate website is where it says on a case by case basis.

Topic about honorary consulates is here.

As far as I knew even 2 years ago visas weren't avail at consulates. Brisbane wouldn't do then. Maybe under urgent or special circumstances. I had no problem sending all my stuff to the embassy in Canberra though

This is what it says on the Thai Consulate Hull web site today IMPORTANT NEWS - With immediate effect all applications for Non Immigrant visas with Multiple Entries must be forwarded to the Royal Thai Embassy in London for approval. Therefore applicants for this visa wishing to deal with the Hull Consulate must submit their full application to The Royal Thai Consulate in Hull in advance by email to [email protected] so that we can apply to the Embassy for authority to issue. This process could take up to one week. We will inform each applicant as soon as we receive authority to issue.

That has been the rule in the UK for about two year now.
