Thumbs up for Thailand once again - quick thinking airport staff save the day for British tourist

BANGKOK: -- Staff at Suvarnabhumi saved the day for a female British tourist who mistakenly left a bag containing all her valuables and passport in the taxi that had brought her to the airport.

 

Mrs Suzanne Jones, 57, realized she had left her black shoulder bag in the cab as he was about to check in for her Emirates flight going abroad. It was about ten pm Saturday night and her flight was to leave at 1am, reported Daily News.

 

The bag contained a British passport, 6,000 baht, 3,000 US Dollars as well as a MacBook Pro and other tech equipment and currency.

 

She reported the matter and the special operations room staff at the airport swung into action. They checked CCTV and managed to trace the driver who was called Noppaporn Raksakhun on record as living in Saphan Sung.

 

He was contacted and asked to come back to the airport as quickly as possible while Emirates staff helped out with a special check-in for Mrs Jones. 

 

The driver arrived and the happy tourist counted everything and it was all there.

 

She thanked everyone for their superb effort as pictures were taken with everyone giving the thumbs up.

 

And just in time at 1am the relieved and happy tourist was on her way - another satisfied customer of the Land of Smiles!

Can't have all that negative publicity piling up   

No tip?

if someone said to her ill get all your belongings back but i want 10% she would of gladly given it, everything comes back and seems like she dose not give anything as a tip. i dont get some people. 

The taxi driver must have thought his magic day had come -  until he got the call!

I normally stand up for Thailand but I have to say on this occasion.....if it is considered  "quick thinking"  by the "Special Operations Room"  to have a look at the CCTV cameras....I'd hate to imagine what  "slow thinking"  looks like?

Well at least they work (CCTV) and they did look, more than you can say for the majority of police CCTV and their reactions.

It's a good story. Nice to hear. I had money returned once and gave the guy 1000 baht.  BTW. British women are just stunning lol.

For? It seems thr Taxi driver was called in...he didn't return the money of his own volition.

I still think someone should have pointed a finger somewhere instead of the silly "thumbs up".

I did not see where no tip was given, perhaps just un reported ! However, some people are not Jadee !

Jus because there is no mention of a tip or reward having been given, doesn't mean one wasn't. Be a bit more positive guys, theres too much negativity in many posts.

6000baht, I hope she gave the driver 3000 and the other

3000 to the helpful staff for a party.....if she didn't something

Come on, it IS a good story. Imagine if the same had happened in London or Frankfurt, a thai guy leaving his valuables in a taxi who had already left. I think at most the police would have him fill some form, with a vague promise of doing what they could when they could.

 

But why is the driver being punished with a hug by that wrestler dressed like a woman?

 

Looks like they delayed the flight long enough for a photo opportunity.

I once left my carry bag in a taxi when me and my family were traveling to Chiang Rai. My wife called my cell and the taxi driver brought it back to Mochit bus terminal just in time. He didn't want to accept it but I made sure he took 1000 baht for being honest and making the special trip back to Mochit.

Thumbs up again??? 

I wonder how many rip offs, muggings and murders one returned bag cancels out

Congratulations to the Airport staff ... but the driver? Mmm ... he didn't notice a bag in his cab? 

To me it looks like the Taxi Driver holding a 1,000 Baht bill together with her purse. Guess he got a tip anyway. 

Happy for the good news. 

I once left a phone in a Miami cab at the airport. Called the cab company within 10 minutes. Had all the cab details , license number, driver name etc. , as I needed a receipt. Still the phone was never found or returned. Last Ping showed it in Nicaragua.....

Well, the mistake to leave the bag in the car was hers. She should at least compensate the driver for travel expenses and lost income. He could easily have told her to come and get the bag on her own.

kind of justifies why Bangkok had more visitors than London. Well done.

Reading the first para. I was about to like your post as I agree that in Western countries its more than likely that filling in the necessary forms would take priority over checking the CCTV to find the taxi.

 

But then you ruined it with your last para - abusive for the sake of it about the woman's appearance .

i  totally agree with you.

 

more importantly the driver should be awarded a recognition certificate with some monetary award for his act.

i think there is no mention of any reward given by the tourist to the taxi driver. if that is the case, it is sad because the kindness of the driver must be rewarded.

he could have denied everything. there was no evidence that he took the bag. that makes the man a role model who must admire and respect and REWARD.
