The roads that don't join in Sri Racha cause headaches for locals!

SRI RACHA:-- Two roads built three years ago in Sri Racha have one fundamental problem - they don't join up in the middle.

One section of the road was built by the Laem Chabang authority while the other was constructed by the Nakorn Chao Praya Surasak administration a few moths later.

But they never joined - locals have to traverse a muddy patch of waste ground to make the connection and it's driving them nuts.

Even drainage ditches don't connect.

Now while the contractor is willing to join them up the question still remains as to who is going to pay for the work!

This is what happens when you start building the road from two

different ends, wonder what happened when it came to join up.

did the workers just walk away one side blaming the other for

the fault. whoops! and the drains are even on different sides.

Why on earth would someone build a new road that doesn't join the existing road?

Ehm, Ehm, pass Magnus.

I can imagine the argument that ' your road should have joined ours, we were here first '.

Reminds me of that lovely joke photo of the two railway lines on a flat plain that don't meet, I think the caption is something to do with Friday but would welcome being corrected.

This is what happens when you use small brains and plumb bobs. When they built the 50km-long Channel Tunnel (from either end), it was within millimetres when they broke through in the middle, and it followed a certain layer of rock which curved both vertically and horizontally. As I say, brains and equipment... vested interests might also be at play in one of these projects. :whistling:

Because thai engineers arent the sharpest knives in the drawer.  Look at some of the footbridges where you have to step over the power lines.  Wheel chair ramps on a 45 or steeper angle.

Metric vs. Imperial ? :cheesy:

Ask the Swiss: Gotthard basetunnel. 57 km long, up to 2300 m under the mountains.

Drilled/built from South and North simultaneously.

Breakthrough in 2010 with 8 cm horizontal and 1 cm vertical deviation.

The channel tunnel between England and France was built working from both ends and it joined up perfectly. Maybe the people who did this road could not measure the co-ordinates properly when constructing it.

sheer lack of coordination and over and above that negligence on the part of the authorities to accept such a shoddy job. they contractors should not have been for it until the alignment was in place.

this is a serious problem as even the   drains are not aligned. you wonder how some floods come about.

what is even  more shocking is that work was accepted by the authorities. payment should have been withheld until correction of the problem.

did the two contractors have a different set of engineering drawings?

One of the two contractors made a mistake in measuring the location; let that be the one who's going to pay!! How difficult can that be.

And if they both borrowed the same land-measuring equipment....share the damage.

they could have build on wrong piece of land since drawings were not followed.
