Samsung Eng wins $347 mln order from Thai naphtha firm

SEOUL, Nov 27 (Reuters) - Samsung Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd. said on Monday it has won a 323.7 billion won ($347.4 million) construction order to build main naphtha cracking units for Thailand's Map Ta Phut Olefins Co. Ltd.

Samsung will build an olefin recovery unit and olefin convergence unit, the two main units for a naphtha cracker, the company said.

Construction of the 800,000 tonnes per year cracker will be completed by early 2010.

Since the units are two out of the six units required for the naphtha cracker, Samsung said Map Ta Phut is seeking for other companies to participate in the project. ($1=931.7 Won)
