One million baht armed bank raid in Sri Racha this morning

CHONBURI: -- Police are investigating an armed robbery at a branch of Bangkok Bank in Sri Racha, Chonburi this morning.

 

Initial reports suggested that there was one robber but later this was revised to two, reported Sanook.

 

Staff at the branch were threated with a gun and ordered to hand over cash that was later discovered to be in the region of one million baht.

 

To effect a getaway mace was sprayed in the face of a security guard. A white Mitsubishi Attrage car was then stolen from a member of the public and found abandoned some distance away.

 

The robber or robbers had fled.

 

Chonburi police top brass were on the scene investigating and studying CCTV footage.

This would be true especially in the case of the Thai bank. you get more money robbing a liquor store in the right neighborhood in the USA than a bank. There is no reason a clerk should ever have access to that amount of money at one time without a line of security in place. I think the average bank robbery in the states yields less than $5,000.

Was 1,000,000 baht over the counter then,or were they made to open a safe.If the case was the former,i would suggest that the staff were expecting company.
