SAMUT PRAKAN — A 14-year-old student told police Thursday he was handcuffed and kicked in the ribs by a teacher at his school in Samut Prakan province.

In the latest case of alleged classroom abuse, the boy’s family said a teacher at the Chalermchailai Witthaya School assaulted the student for damaging his classmates’ mobile phones, even though he had already financially compensated them.

Schools are equipped with handcuffs? Perhaps for PE?

another quality teacher/news story from Thailand...Great educational system in Thailand...would love to hear Mr Prayuth's take on these abusive acts.

Not only Thai teachers are not able to teach but they also torture.

...teacher...handcuffs...kicked in the ribs...

What the actual <deleted!>?

Please discontinue your efforts to post in a profane manner.

Decades ago; I taught in the inner-city, Newark, NJ.  The

absolute worse!! ....handcuffs and a kick in the side.....I

carried a switch blade and .22 and this was the" good

old days"..... (One semester was enough).  Some of these

"students" are just criminals waiting for a cell!!

So in this case they name the school, but when it's a "prestigious/hi-so" school/university in Bangkok, you're left guessing.

"You mean we're not allowed to do that? Someone should have said."

Whatever happened to the techno students for fighting should at least happen to these thug teachers.

....I am sure the is a reasonable explanation...depending on the teachers name and connections....

...compared to the student's......

I'm from the UK, which has the best education in the world.

Actually, no, the UK is far from the best. Check world rankings and you'll find that Sweden does.

He may be too busy while getting around all accusations of abused soldiers in lower ranks.

They have a big problem with discipline in Thai schools. I remember a perfectly reasonable Thai female teacher telling me the only way she could control the classes was by carrying around a stick. This was a Master's, went from home to husband. It isn't a cultural problem. She couldn't deal with it, except by caŕrying a stick.

Don't hold your breath..

Numerous off-topic posts removed along with replies.   At least one person will be on suspension.   Continued off-topic, troll posts will result in more suspensions.

The topic is about an incident in Thailand.   It's not about guns in the US or what country has the best academic schools.

Its his attempt at becoming multi skilled

Clearly indicates deeper problems when violence in this environment becomes evident. I am happy my children are not educated in this system.

Having read other news reports in Thai language, the 14 year old boy destroyed 2 students mobile phones. Later that same day he had Taikwondo class in which the P.E teacher said he was kicked in the ribs by those students whose mobile phones had been destroyed. He went home and blamed the P.E teacher and came back to school with his grandma to make a complaint. This is from my google translating. I could be wrong.
