NRSA to discuss proposals on draft EC law on October 3

Kitti Cheevasittiyanon

BANGKOK, 2 October 2016 (NNT) - The National Reform Steering Assembly is scheduled to discuss proposals concerning a draft organic law related to the Election Commission.

NRSA Speaker Tinnapan Nakata has called a sitting for all members of the Assembly on Monday, October 3 to review a report from the committee on economic reform, which focuses on an overhaul of the offer of basic financial education to the public, and a report from the committee on political reform, which proposes ideas about the drafting of the Organic Act on the Election Commission.

The NRSA will also look at a report from the special committee in charge of national reform, which discusses laws governing plans and steps to implement the reform processes.

Mr. Tinnapan also cancelled the meeting of the reform assembly, which was originally scheduled on October 4, to allow members to dedicate their time to the responsibilities of the reform committees they belong to.

Whoa! Overhauling the offer of basic 'financial education' to the public? Now that's some serious economic reform! Are they sure Thailand is ready for this?

I have no doubt it will end up with a law prohibiting campaigning, in the style of the referendum law.....
