Best Bike Shop in Chiang Mai?

Featured Replies

I'm looking to rent a good bike but am afraid of getting ripped off or being sold a broken bike, only to be forced to pay for it. Anyone have any good experiences with bike shops in Chiang Mai? if so, please share! I am in the Nimman area.

I don't know any shop that's renting quality bikes in CM, but I haven't been in every one of the 50+ shops there must now be in the area.

Jacky Bikes and Velocity are both reputable and won't rip you off if you choose to buy a bike.

What El Jefe said.

Depends on the style you are looking for, most decent rentals will be attached to guided tours. No bad thing really. ;)

If you're going to stay for a while , why don't you just buy a cheap one,  If you just need a city bike Big C sell a good bicycle for 2.500 baht

That is the funniest thing I've read for a while. Who buys a bike from Big C, for 2500 baht it certainly won't be good.....

I bought one myself , no problems as a city bike . why do you think its funny ? Not everyone wants to race up the hills.

A 2500 baht bike from a supermarket is heavy and very poorly built and a false economy for anything other than an occasional spin to the shops.

I don't think anyone would call them good, the best you can say is functional.

2 years and still working good , .  I only use it 2 times per week . It's not bad just just because it's cheap .

I have been extremely happy with Stu at MONG bikes on Chang Moi road.  He and Mong have given valuable advice and direction,  as well,  even sending me to another shop for a better price on a product that he had in stock.

He sells, rents, and services bikes.  Very happy with Mong Bike.

The amount of time you're here, the type of riding you'll be doing and your budget would be helpful.
