EC plays down rumor of internal conflict

 

  

BANGKOK, 3 October 2016 (NNT) - Amid an ongoing rumor about conflicts within the electoral body, an election commissioner has come out to dismiss the claim. 

A member of the Election Commission (EC), Somchai Srisutthiyakorn, said it is not true that there is a feud between commissioners and that it is certainly not true that the political reform committee of the National Reform Steering Assembly (NRSA) will convene to discuss the dissolution of the electoral body. 

He said if there really was a feud, the commissioners never would have finished drafting 4 organic acts within a one month period, adding that it took unity and conformity to complete those laws. 

He said the commissioners have been working as a team to ensure work efficiency and productivity.

So this is to reinforce the PM's claims of polls late 2017 since all is cordial and progress should be swift?

Still unclear on the need for an "Election Commission"; is there some plan to hold elections anytime soon?
