NARATHIWAT: -- Eleven passengers of a bus shuttling between Koh Samui and Su-ngai Kolok slammed into a tree on a road island and flipped one-side up on a road in Narathiwat’s Muang district on Monday morning.

Most of the injured suffered bruises after they were helped out of the air-conditioned bus and taken to Narathiwat Ratnakharin hospital for first-aid treatments.

The 40-year old bus driver, Naroengsak Boonsalee, said that the bus left Koh Samui for Su-ngai Kolok in Narathiwat.

Those darn trees, always getting in the way of buses. Cannot possibly be the driver driving the bus off the road!

Here's what he said.

Naroengak told police that when the bus arrived at the scene of the accident which was a curved road, he lost control of the bus and slammed it into a tree on an island in the middle of the road.

I love the way these guys put it. It's comical.

"The bus arrived at the scene of the accident" - It was like the bus had a mind of its own. I had nothing to do with it.

"which was a curved road" - The bus came to a sharp bend.

"he lost control of the bus" -  I was going too fast and didn't brake in time, losing control of the vehicle.

"slammed it into a tree on an island in the middle of the road." The inevitable result was the bus ended up in the central reservation and crashed into one of the trees. Who puts trees in the middle of the road for crying out loud?

Obvious innit !  just a simple case of brake failure, quite common here. Never the drivers fault.
