BANGKOK: -- A SPECIAL Justice Ministry committee investigating the suspicious death of land-deeds scam suspect Tawatchai Anukul while in custody announced it had completed its report yesterday, but did not disclose any details on how he died.

Wisit Wisitora, head of the Truth Finding Committee on the Death of Tawatchai Anukul, told a press conference that the committee had gathered all the information it needed and would send its report to Thung Song Hong police's investigation team.

"Right now, the committee's duty is done," said Wisit, who added that the panel had not concluded how Tawatchai died but rather how he might have sustained his injuries while in custody of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI).

"...the panel had not concluded how Tawatchai died but rather how he might have sustained his (fatal) injuries while in custody..."

Dare I say it, Thailand - the Hub of ambiguation!

If you needed more proof, this from September 23 - "...he did not commit suicide but someone might have made him die..." (http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/944361-thai-police-thawatchai-was-dead-because-someone-did-it-to-him/#comment-11172785).

Forgive me but what was the point of the committee in the first place? To guess how he may have sustained his injuries and not follow through to how he actually died? More to the point, who was to blame for his death and what went wrong with his detainment in custody of the DSI?

The title Truth Finding Committee doesn't appear to be fulfilling it's grand title.............................

No need for this Truth Committee, it is simple, he died of death, someone made him die, clearly death can be fatal.

What more do we need to know, move along please, nothing to see here.

Yes, you can't be half dead, its proven.

Governments set up committees, when they dont really want to

come to a conclusion,no one loses face,as its not the fault of

one person, but the committees......then you can set up another

committee to probe the results of the first one, until time passes

and what they were trying to get to the bottom of is forgotten.

The main duty of the committee was to establish whether there any DSI officer was involved in Tawatchai's death and report to Justice Ministry.

If that was in fact the purpose, then why did the government populate the "Truth Finding Committee" with a bunch of hospital/medical school personnel?

They would be appropriate sorts to opine on the medical causes of death, whether CPR contributed, etc etc. But hardly the types appropriate for what ought to be essentially a criminal investigation into who murdered the victim.
