BANGKOK: -- THAI POLICE are cooperating with their US counterparts in the hunt for a group involved in a “large-scale highly sophisticated sex-trafficking scheme” in which hundreds of Thai women were forced to work as prostitutes in the US.

About a dozen people were recently apprehended in cities across the US for running the operation.

A Thai woman, Sumalee Intarathong, 55, suspected of being the organisation's boss, was arrested in Belgium in August.

Understood. Bowing to American pressure to do their jobs.

unlikely. they may be trying to look like they are doing their job but the boys upstairs will be trying to reduce the perceived  extent of these crimes or thailand is back on the people smuggling watch list again. that means playing down thai peoples involvement in these climes and keeping arrests to a minimum.

Well, the US cops will be looking. The Thai cops will appear to be looking and will only find/not find information based on their own interests.

A Thai policeman remarked that they were trying to find out if any Thai, in Thailand was involved in this organization. Does he think the girls/ladies were just beamed up and over to the us? The investigation report will have names, where visa was issued in thailand, travel routes, concact  people, etc.

The need for a seeing eye dog for the Thai Royal Police seems to be the first thing they need, a english thai translator may be helpful and they would never have to leave the comfort of their office.

Just another dog and pony show. The Americans will get to demonstrate that their allies the Thais are making efforts to put a damper on human trafficking. The Thai police will show face. And maybe there will be yet another purge of the Thai employees at the US embassy as we all know how easy it is for "poor women who (speak) little English" to get visas into the US.
