Thai overstayers detained

TWO Thai nationals who overstayed their visas had been detained in South Australia's southeast, Immigration Minister Amanda Vanstone said today.

The man and woman were found yesterday at separate homes in Naracoorte and had been taken to Baxter detention centre.

"Both were found to have overstayed their visas and it is also suspected they were illegally working in the area," Senator Vanstone said.

"These people were found thanks to invaluable information from the community."

The minister said more than 10,000 unlawful non-citizens or people who had breached visa conditions were found by immigration officials in 2005-06.

I'm sure there are some people in this forum who would like to trade citizenships, maybe they could broker a deal!! :o

Living in Naracoorte is punishment enough :D

Then Baxter, not exactly a holliday camp.

Do they have to pay 500 baht a day for overstay? !

They will recieve a bill for their stay at Baxter. :o (About $200/day)

There is a story going around that Donz had employed these people to work selling tee shirts at his market stall. :o

I have re-writen this post three times and I find it impossible to stop it turning into a rant... so I will not make a comment on the story other than to say "What else could we expect from Vanstones Gestapo?"

The Baxter detention centre is nothing more than a concentration camp - because that is exactly what it is designed to be.
