webfact
Tiger temple abbot says he is ready to face legal consequences KANCHANABURI: -- Breaking his long silence since the raid in June of the Tiger Temple or Luangta Bua Yannasampanno monastery in Kanchanaburi, Phra Visuthisarathera, the temple abbot, told the media on Friday that he was caught totally unprepared about the raid and its consequences. However, the abbot who was commonly known as Luangta Chan said he was trying to accept the consequences and would let the law to run its course regarding the pending legal actions against him and his monastery. About 140 tigers in the monastery which was a popular tourist destination before the raid by police and forestry officials in June have been removed from the temple ground, leaving behind hundreds of other animals such as deer, barking deer, wild boar and cattle under the care of the temple officials and some foreign volunteers. Thechook
Poor bugger, caught unprepared during the raid. Would have been nice if the authorities called in advance and made an appointment so he could have prepared.
bokningar
So now he want to have some Tigers again. Not making enough money now when the selling Tiger parts to Chinese medicine has stopped Why is he not in prison ?
NongKhaiKid
Not the first senior monk prepared to face legal consequences but then comes the excuses, the delays and no one actually in a hurry to get on with it. Anyone heard what's happening to the case involving another senior monk these days ? NO, it's all gone quiet over there !

Rancid
Well in some ways at least its interesting to know that Buddhism can be just as corrupt as other organized religions. Actually you can add a whole raft of so-called New Age stuff into the "pay for pray" category as well. Remember reading long ago that true insight never comes via a cheque book or religious business models. Even Buddha himself looked within, not out. jaltsc
"...he was caught totally unprepared about the raid and its consequences." Had he been leading the life of a Buddhist monk, there would not have been a situation in which he could have been caught "unprepared". cumgranosalum
Face legal consequences? - that's a bit of an oxymoron as he has protested his ignorance of everything that took place and has promulgated misinformation for over a decade. However we mustn't underestimate his contacts in high places.
