PATTAYA: -- On the night of October 9 thirty-six-year old Japanese national Mr Yushi Yokohama (first described as Korean) beaten unconscious in Petchtrakul Road, Pattaya, by a group of Thai men.

At 9.30pm, on the night of October 10, Pattaya police arrested thirty-six year old Mr Wuttikorn Klaeklad on suspicion of assault.

The suspect claims he had been chatting to his girlfriend, using the Line app, when the victim, who was drunk, grabbed his phone from him. He says he asked for it back and then told the victim to ‘go to bed.’

He said that as he walked away the victim became aggressive and punched him twice in the face, which made him angry.

He said that he pushed him away and he accidentally fell to the ground. So, he said, he ‘kicked him twice in the face and ran away.’

He has been charged with assault.

Not good TAT. Japanese people are quite sensitive to such incidents.

The whiff of bullshit (mods, can i say that?) is overpowering.

The attackers' account of what led up to him kicking this Japanese lad twice in the chops is absurd at best.

Wonder what the punishment for assault on a tourist is, and wonder why he wasn't charged with tarnishing the good image of pattaya ?

And its weird that a group of attackers is mentioned yet only 1 is getting arrested. Hmm

Waiting for the victim's account of events, if they're allowed to be known that is.

I wonder if they're coached at the cop shop to come up with this blameless bullshit, when making their statements - put some blame on the tourist and we may get through this....

Well they caught a Thai guy , now we will wait for the outcome.  He deserves a few months in jail .

Another day in Paradise , these people are heading back to poverty.

Was the Japanese guy someone important? There seems to be an awful lot of cameras pointed at whoever is being interviewed.

Who can believe whatever explanation the Thai guy will say. Truth is meaningless in this country.

the tourist probably did not smile or wai in the correct fashion, thus he deserved his beating by a group of law abiding guys.

Translation.......not looking where he was going, bumped into the "drunk" tourist and dropped his precious phone.

Just the normal Pattaya welcome, almost daily reported event, to be superceded by tomorrows new victim with the same pretence that they care.

Shock, horror.

BS story from the Thai guy.

One more Tourist has the welcome to Pattaya stamp,   from the Thugs that rule the streets now in this town.    :bah:

So this Thai was just minding his own business, LINE'ing with his GF, and this drunk Japanese guy just wanders up out of the blue, grabs his phone, refuses to give it back, and then slugs him twice in the face...

Why sure. Who wouldn't believe all that?  'Happens all the time...

Does the guy happen to be an ex-Bangkok taxi driver by any chance?   'Seems well qualified.

Typical Thai mentality. We can't do anything alone, but feel like they are hard men when there is a bunch of them. Dogs run in packs do I need to say more?

If he was important he wouldn't be in Pattaya.

50 lashes seems appropriate

Cheers

Pattaya police dismayed that some effort to do their job is diverted from the priority occupation of 'protecting' bar owners.

"Wonder what the punishment for assault on a tourist is,"

The usual penalty is a 500  baht fine

In the UK the victim would be charged because the assailant injured his fist while beating him

The others just stood around in case the Jap proved equal - or stronger! - than the Thai.

Another daily event of a tourist being beaten up in the sin city and BS Thai story to explain the reason for beating.

Was the assault carried out by a group of Thais? That would be the most likely scenario, I can't see a Thai

man carrying out an assault by himself.

...sounds like this story was purposefully written in an incoherent manner.....

....I've heard about denial...but this is a new all-time low.....

...and it mentions 'a gang' briefly.....

...just blame it on the foreigner and that settles that.....

...jeez....

Well the original story had a gang of youths involved and another some guy whose car was kicked.

Violent people Thai youths.

So he was punched twice in the face by the victim after he had walked away?

Let's not be naïve enough to believe anything said. TIT

That doesn't answer the question as to why there are so many cameras pointing at the person making the announcement.
