Resetting Windows 10 laptop with lost password or just restore ?

Featured Replies

Hi

we have a Dell Inspiron 15 computer that came with windows 10 ,

it had a password lock and the kid put the wrong one in too many times and its locked ,

There is nothing  that needs to be saved  on it ,  if it needs to be wiped clean ,

But is there a away to get past the password lock ?

if not is there a way to get to System restore , or whatever they hide the backup system ?

We do not have any other windows 10  machines if we needed to copy something :(

thanks for your help in getting this back working

How would I tell ?

Windows loads up , then asks for password , but the wrong one has been put in too many times.....

It's Windows.

Just follow the instructions in my link.

Usually happens when someone uses their local password instead of their Microsoft password or the other way around.

What KneeDeep said.  I just wanted to eliminate the possibility of it being a BIOS password problem vs a Windows problem.  If Windows even starts to load, then it's not a BIOS issue.

OP did you not get the message? Easy and fast.

You only need to burn a CD, then boot your system with the CD and delete your old passwords and create new ones.

Windows 10 English 32 bit

Windows 10 English 64 bit

Offline Windows Password & Registry Editor I haven't tested it on Windows 10, but it's another option.
