webfact
Do something about our smelly rubbish say Prachuap villagers Picture: Thairath PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN: -- Locals in the Thap Sakae area of Prachuap Khiri Khan are fed up with the local authority over a mountain of rubbish near their houses. The former mayor of the community is leading the way in demanding action to rid the area of the trash that is causing flies and considerable annoyance to the villagers, reports Thairath. Samniang Pakkingmeuang went to register a complaint with the government's watchdog Damrongtham center about the matter. The issue has been simmering for months and has caused many protests. The local authority claim that they are in the process of building a facility to deal with the rubbish properly. They said that plans for an eco-friendly 10 million baht treatment facility that would separate the trash were shelved recently and discussions are currently taking place as to what to do about the rubbish that has accumulated. Meanwhile the residents suffer the consequences of the smell and flies. Source: Thairath -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2016-10-
klauskunkel
My suggestion for the villagers: Pool money, rent a big truck, Load the trash and dump it at the district office.
Brer Fox
The funny thing about rubbish is that it is never the problem for those who create it in the first place as it is always passed to others who are then expected to clean it up.

Excellant idea and even if they are bteaking the law, it would be they are guilty of littering. So what?

Xircal
It's one of the sad things about Thailand that trash collection doesn't exist in rural areas and instead the locals either burn it or dump it on the side of the road. Consequently, children grow up with it the way it is and take these habits with them when they themselves become adults and move elsewhere. Looking at the picture I would imagine it's already become a health hazard and it might be worth talking to a lawyer to see if the local authority can be pressured to clear it all away. If the villagers do that collectively, it shouldn't cost too much I would have thought.
