webfact
Five southern men interrogated over security By THE NATION BANGKOK: -- THE NATIONAL Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has interrogated five men with deep South roots about security threats in the southernmost region and Bangkok. These five detainees were among dozens of people rounded up in Bangkok-based security operations last week. “We have convincing evidence that they must have had some crucial information about security affairs, not just in the three southern border provinces but also in the centre of the country,” NCPO spokesman Colonel Winthai Suvaree said yesterday. However, he said at this stage, security officials had not found evidence that the five detainees were engaged in security-related offences. webfact
Car bomb plot: Junta confirms 5 being held for questioning By Teeranai Charuvastra, Staff Reporter - Police commandos raid a building Oct. 10 in Bangkok as part of a counterterrorism operation. BANGKOK — Five men arrested along the course of last week were still under military custody Monday for their suspected involvement in an alleged plot to bomb Suvarnabhumi Airport and other targets, a junta spokesman said. Up to 40 people were initially arrested in sweeping raids that lasted several days, raising concerns about arbitrary arrests and secret detentions. The operation was launched after it emerged on Oct. 10 that an unspecified militant group was preparing to stage car bomb attacks at major landmarks in Bangkok’s southeastern suburb, including one of the city’s international airports. Seems that we currently have a bit of a gap in the evidence (between what these men may know about something, and what they might actually do). Give the authorities enough time though, and I'm confident they'll easily manage to "construct" enough evidence to bridge that gap !!!

That would be General Prayut's extrajudicial organization that is not accountable to any constitution and the rights and liberties that a constitution affords such as due process of law. Seeing as 4 million Thai Muslims have deep South roots, they all become suspect without evidence as security threats against the Kingdom. This is the new and improved democracy that Prayut is trying to bring into Thailand? Fascism and democracy are not the same ideologies.
