DPM Somkid wants product prices to be monitored closely

BANGKOK, 18 October 2016 (NNT) - Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak wants a team to regulate commodity prices and ensure they remain affordable to consumers.

The team would be required to report to Dr. Somkid the retail prices and production costs for all products on a regular basis, to allow the government to solve problems related to price hikes in a timely manner.

The Deputy Premier had been speaking at a meeting on the cost of living, where he emphasized the need to implement government policy to keep costs down. High-ranking officials, including permanent secretaries and inspectors-general, have been urged to approach the policy proactively.

As for the export sector, the Department of International Trade has also been instructed to take a proactive approach to boosting exports across the world.

Meanwhile, the Department of Business Development has been urged to cooperate with the Ministry of Science and Technology to find ways to work with Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba and IT solutions provider Huawei to bolster Thai SMEs. The Deputy Prime Minister is also scheduled to visit China to attend the Fifth Meeting of the Joint Committee on Trade, Investment and Economic Cooperation between Thailand and China at the end of this year.

Great idea.

100.000 controllers should do the trick.

Oh - and don't forget to outfit them with a nice uniform.

Control freaking hell !!!

Well, obviously it's highly necessary.

Black T-shirts for 600.- THB and more, usually sold for 150.- (meaning worth 30.- at best)?

Now, could that be extortion, perhaps?!

and a working scale.

I wonder if the people bemoaning people for not wearing black are actually the sellers of the black merchandise. Kings death should be a period of mourning for the Thai people, not profit raking.

Enforced religiosity: what a joke!  Reminds me of Islam where it's 'obey or lose your head'.
