We are travelling to LOS in April, at the moment the air fairs for Thai airways are horrendous, does anyone have any idea how far in advance is the best time to travel?

I always  like to travel about 3 months in advancecoffee1.gif

I tried travelling in advance once, but I arrived before my bags !!!

Ignore the plebs (only joking lads, nearly spat my tea out reading the replies ), I assume you meant to ask when is the best time to book? If you're travelling in the first two weeks of April, you're going to struggle to get a good price because it's Easter (and school holidays). And, just to make matters worse, it's Songkran in Thailand. If Thai are way over the odds on price, they might get twitchy nearer to April if their seats aren't selling. The best thing to do is just monitor the ticket price, and if you see a significant drop, book it quickly because that's what other people will be doing, and the price will shoot back up again once they've sold some tickets.

Some more detail might help.

From where are you flying?

How long will your trip be?

You are absolutely bound to Thai Air?

And yes, traveling around Songkran can be expensive.

3 months prior, 52 days or anything like this doesn't really apply to super busy times like Christmas or Easter. The flights will be full regardless so the airlines doesn't discount those periods. Adjust your dates within the Easter period might bring the price down. Depart on a Thursday or a Friday rather than the weekend when all the family's with kids depart. Same on the way back if you can.

I've found a flight with ethiad for £520 that's reasonable I suppose, however, the hotel prices are really holding there prices at the moment, usually for April the dusit do a buy one get one free, no sign of that this year!!! Unfortunately I have to travel this year during songkran so I suppose you would expect prices to be high, I don't know wether to wait and see if songkran goes ahead as usual,or is cancelled.
