Online reporting technical issues

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I've decided to try my luck with the online reporting. However, I cannot for the life of me get the website to work. I'm running Windows 10 with the latest edition of Internet Explorer. I've tried every other browser and have tried simulating IE 6-9, one at a time, on Safari on my wife's macbook. In every case, the website works exactly the same way. 50% of the time the captcha won't load, thus not allowing me to go past the first page. I can enter 1-4 digits or so, then the website freezes for anywhere between 1 and 5 minutes. If I copy-paste an entire line it freezes a proportionately long period of time. It literally takes an entire hour to get through by which point the capcha is expired and I need to wait another 5 or so minutes for it to reload. For the record, my internet connection works fine elsewhere - it's clearly a problem with the website. At which point I can just click and pray that it doesn't freeze halfway through loading the second page.

I've literally lost 4 hours on this website today, and have yet to get past the first page of the form.

For those who have had success with this system, what system specs did you use? Which browser and OS? And for those who (like me) only have access to OSX, Linux, and Windows 10, have you found any means of replicating conditions under which the website is supposed to work?

The default  browser in Win 10 is Edge.  IE is buried with Edge and has to be deliberately opened once you have the first page of the immigration website loaded. (Click on the triple bar at the top right of the screen)

Alternatively IE can be opened directly without loading Edge . You need to look in Windows Accessories to find it. (In the start menu)

Everything you describe  suggests that you have failed to actually open the 90 day report site in IE.

Hope this helps

there has been issues with online reporting even last week. mine didnt go through and I had to attend immigration. same with my work colleagues

That could be a problem with your local immigration office not doing the approvals.

Same here. Get to fill in the first page and when going to the next a popup message comes saying: For more information ask your local immigration office" or something like that. Never been able to get to page 2.

I get the same message because I have an entry prior to 2013 and a new passport. It is not a problem with the online site.

If you don't have an old entry or a new passport it could be you are entering something incorrectly on the first page or there is an error in the database from your last entry to the country.

Which browser are are you using Internet Explorer or something else ?

Are you sure you are attempting to make the report during the permitted time window of 14-7 days prior to the 90 day report being due ?

I don't know much about using Internet Explorer on Windows 7 but having had a little experience with  language problems for computers too I'm wondering if it's up to date. If that might be the case it might not hurt reading

As I wrote having a browser problem will not cause you to get the contact you local immigration office message. It only causes problems with entering the info or accessing the site.

I think that you are quite right here Joe, I also think that this is'nt going to change without a serious Government crackdown on Immigration offices which I doubt will happen, the reason, in my view being that if online 90 day reporting worked properly it would cut into immigration officers scams too much and they don't want that...

An interesting conspiracy theory !

Do tell about these alleged "scams" which are facilitated by a 90 report.

If you don't know of any fithman I somehow don't think that you've been going to immigration offices for very long or you've been very lucky, given the laws here if you think I'm going to give details on a public forum you must think me very naive....

I went to Loei immigration in Chiang Khan Tuesday for my 90 day check in. I asked about doing the next one on the Internet. I was told, NO, you must come here. It is a hundred kilometer one way drive for me. Before that office got a new boss, it was very easy. They scanned the barcode, you signed the print out and that was it. Now the form is required as well as a copy of every page of your passport. It appears that this formerly simple process has gone backwards. I think they generate tonnes of paper and sell the paper. What other explanation is there?

OK!

If you are certain that you are using the correct browser, are filling all the detail on the form correctly and are within the reporting time-frame there is not much more you can do.

For a few the system does not work for various reasons including when the last entry was made, acquiring a new passport etc.

You could do the report online but apparently they would not process it. Just another rogue office that will not process them or accept mailed in reports.

I always was successful in the past doing my 90 days reporting online with W7, W8.1 then W10.

After upgrading to W10 from W8.1 I knew I had to have IE to do the reporting online. I could not download IE browser for W10 but only "Internet Explorer Desktop App". The easy way to do that is to go to "Search" (Cortana) by clicking on the small magnifying glass in the task bar and type "Internet Explorer".  You can then download this application by just clicking on it in the search results.

As a reminder, when doing your reporting online and have problems just fill up the fields with a little red star only, it might work then.

Internet Explorer is hidden within and can be accessed from Edge the default Win 10 browser

If you want to load IE without Edge it is a simple matter of going to the start menu, scrolling down to "Windows Accessories" opening (click on) the folder and the clicking on IE which you will see !

Thanks for the info. After clicking on "All applications" then "Windows accessories" it is there. I wonder if it is there by default or it has to be downloaded. I am not sure but I thought I had to download it.

I am sure it will help, I had no idea that IE app was buried in "Windows Accessories" folder. Microsoft will never stop teasing us.:saai:

Please do not believe I am an "expert" because I am not !

The IE info was given to me by a friend who is an IT specialist.
