quiting job on non-O

Featured Replies

Hi there

I have a non-immigrant O visa (based on spouse). I'm quiting my job (got a workpermit for it, though its not connected to the VISA). It's not working out with the employer. Would leaving without officially resigning/cancelling my workpermit and just doing a runner get me blocked or unable to leave at the airport, because of that workpermit still being "active" and technically still being "employed"? Or is that only for Non-B visas? Are there any consequences to leaving the workpermit "open"? I suppose it would only expire after time with no repercusions in my case?
Any correct advice appreciated, krub.

If you have a non-o visa or extension of stay based upon marriage it is not tied to your job. You can stay after your work permit is cancelled and certainly would not have a problem leaving the country.

Great work attitude.
