Today, it will mark a historic moment for the people of the Kingdom of  Thailand when at 1.00 pm they will join together in a sing-along of the Royal Anthem at the Sanam Luang field in front of the Grand Palace.

They will sing together to send their beloved King Bhumibol Adulyadej to heaven.

Leading the mass of people to sing the Royal Anthem is Ajarn Somtow Sucharitkul.

According to Ajarn Somtow, the significance of today’s event is that it vividly represents the Thai people’s love and sense of loss for their beloved ‘Royal Father’.

He said this event could be the largest mass sing-along in the world and he would be proud to be a part of it.

“Rarely have so many people been involved in such an event,” he said.

On top of the rarely seen spectacle of hundreds of thousands of people singing in unison, a large team of choral singers numbering 150 and more than 200 musicians from the Siam Philharmonic Orchestra will make for a staggering show that has rarely been seen anywhere, he said.
