Long-delayed robotic parking garage finally opens

Do you know the dimensions of your car? The long-delayed automated parking garage at Bali Hai Pier is finally open to the public, but there are some size restrictions. Not to worry, almost all family cars and pickups fit.

PATTAYA:--The long-delayed automated parking garage at Bali Hai Pier is finally open to the public, but so far, it’s only about a third full.

The 738-million-baht garage finally threw open its gates Oct. 1 more than three years after it was built.

Using a computerized-elevator system from by Simmatec Robotic of South Korea, the garage offers 407 parking spaces on seven floors. Three hydraulic “Transo Devices” lift cars into and out of spaces. Plans call for the facility to be expanded to handle boats as well.

Employees said Oct. 10 that about 100-150 cars are using the facility a day. Most are travelers planning to go to Koh Larn.

Wow.....let's say that 50% will be occupied by Koh Larn goers on a daily base.

They will park their car longer than 8 hours which is THB 300.

+/- 200 cars x 300 x 365 = +/- 22 million per year INCOME.

THB 738 million investment + annual operational cost...........and don't forget the huge overhaul after 10-15 years due to unprofessional use and salt-water influences........a real money-pit!!
