BANGKOK, 22 October 2016 (NNT) – Bangkok Governor Asawin Kwanmuang called on the general public who wish to mourn the late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej at the Grand Palace to make a travel plan amidst a huge number of people there.

The Bangkok governor said the authorities have provided conveniences to mourners at the Grand Palace and Sanam Luang ground nearby to pay homage to the late monarch and joined in the singing of the royal anthem.

An estimated 100,000 people gathered at Sanam Luang with many more expected to join throughout the day.

First Army Region commander Lt Gen Apirat Kongsompong instructed army spokesman Col Winthai Suvaree to have the media publicize that the Sanam Luang area was all occupied, and advise those who wish to join to plan their travels in advance.

Thammasat University has coordinated with 700 volunteers to maintain cleanliness of the area around Sanam Luang with information booths set up to help the general public who may make inquiry about their travels back home in the evening and night.
