Not sure since when as I only just looked, but niether liverpool or hull are offering multiple entry non immigrant Visas

You can still apply via the Consulates, but they need to get authority from The Embassy in London before issuing the visa, which will take a few days.

Not anymore. Several reports of them only doing single entry visas at the consulates now. Multiple entry visas have to be applied for at the embassy now.

the price of multiple entry visas has been removed from the application forms too. The website states that multiple entry visas must be applied for at the embassy. The consulate will only issue single entry visas

THE ROYAL THAI CONSULATE REGRETS THAT THEY ARE NO LONGER ABLE TO ISSUE MULTI-ENTRY NON-IMMIGRANT VISAS.  A SINGLE ENTRY VISA MUST BE APPLIED FOR AND THEN EXTENDED IN THAILAND.  ALTERNATIVELY, PLEASE SEND YOUR APPLICATION TO THE EMBASSY IN LONDON.

not sure what is needed for a successful extension   800,000 in the bank for a couple of months I guess. does anybody know for sure??

You'd need 800K baht in a Thai bak for 60 days, an income certified by your embassy of at least 65K baht pm, or a combination of the two totaling 800K.

 

So I'm guessing that if the multiple entry non o  visas are  still available in Savannakhet  then it may not be for much longer.

Why not just apply to London directly? I get mine from there without any bother..

You can still get a Multiple Entry Non 'O' via the Embassy in London which can be applied for by post. My guess is that the consulates have abused their power and issued too many ME visas, and have had that privilege taken away. There's no reason why that should have a knock on effect to Savannakhet.

Exactly,  This change did not happen overnight it is at least 1 year old

Before they were able to accept the application and have it approved by the embassy. In August of this year many honorary Thai consulates worldwide were informed they could no longer issue multiple entry visas. Only embassies and official consulates can issue them now.

From the posts you've made I assume you haven't kept up to date with the changes/restrictions that have taken place concerning 12 month non 'O' visa's over the last year or two.

Not just in the UK, Consulates all over the world have been stopped from issuing 12 month non 'O' visas and their latest instructions is to tell people to apply directly to their local Thai Embassy.

Requirements still vary from country to country but, at least in the UK, for most of us, to qualify you must:

 

Be over 65 and in receipt of a Government state Pension (with some other restrictions) OR

Be married to a Thai National OR

Be the parent/guardian of a Thai national

 

And, generally (for most of us), the intended purpose of your visit should be to (prepare to) settle in Thailand or to visit family.

 

I'm sure others will come on here and quote other reasons when some people can qualify for a 12 month non 'O' visa but obtaining one for extended tourism is now a definite no, no. 

 

Faz's question was simply to get the information needed for him and others to better be able to advise you on the best way to obtain the visa you want. 

 

Say what you like about the way the Thai powers that be go about things but their intended objective is for people to get the correct visa for their visit/stay in Thailand and prevent people abusing the system. I might well be wrong but, personally, I think the 12 month non 'O' will be even more difficult to come by in the future with people only being able to obtain a 3 month non'O' and advised to change/update it within Thailand for the correct permission to stay for a longer period.

Because without that information it's impossible for anyone to advise you on your best choice of Visa or options.

 

There are many different types of Visas available and they all have conditions attached which vary depending on age, marital status and the purpose of your visit.

With that information, the more experienced members can advise you on the best Visa to suit your purpose, or alternative solutions that may be available once you enter Thailand.

 

For what it's worth, I retired at 60 and my purpose of my visit was to retire in Thailand.

I knew I needed a Non Imm O classification Visa, however due to my age and marital status (single) I didn't meet the criteria for obtaining either a Non Imm O multi entry Visa, or the Non Imm O - A multi entry Visa, I was therefore restricted to the 90 day single entry Non Imm O Visa, which gained me entry, then went about meeting the criteria required by Thailand local Immigration service to remain here ever since.

 

Sorry if you think it's a personal question, but it's necessary to give the best advice.

I'm getting a little bit confused here,I've always got my non-o visa based on being married to a Thai at Cardiff,is this type of visa being stopped.Some help please.

It is not being eliminated but you apparently will have to apply for it at the embassy in London if you want a multiple entry non-o visa.

Honorary consulates can no longer issue multiple entry visas.
