Hi

I returned from abroad a few weeks ago my 90 day report will be due in about 75 days. I had done this online for quite some time and it worked well.

My question is can I continue to submit this online or after returning do I need to go up to Chaeng Wattana first report?

Last time I did my extension I noticed they moved the 90-day upstairs. What might I expect that could be different aside from it simply being in a different physical location if anything? Still better to come in the late afternoon instead of the morning crush?

You CAN do it online, but it will be rejected as the first report when returning to Thailand must be done in-person. Therefore you should do as DrJack recommends and submit by mail, or plan to go in person.

If you plan to go in person, I suggest you file online at exactly 15 days before your due date. Wait for the rejection to go in and do it. There are some rare cases where it is approved in your circumstances. It should not be approved, but you're not out anything by trying and might save yourself a trip to CW.

I tried to do my 90 days online after a trip abroad, but it was rejected. I had to do it at the immigration office but the next time it was possible online as usual. It looks like we can't do it online the first time after a trip abroad.

You can also use an agent.

TVC has slick process. You don't even need to post them your pp.

You upload to TVC (online)

They do the rest.

Yes you can. The only thing to bear in mind is that the report will most likely not be done where you live which may or may not bother you.

I have heard that Jomtien also require a new TM30 after a trip abroad, even if returning to the same address. Is that true?

I have read first hand report of person going to jomtien immigration to do TM30 after trip abroad and returning to usual address only to be told "not required"

Personally I ignore TM30 for trips within Thailand and abroad.

However I would always do one prior to dealing with immigration for eg extension, COR, etc

I felt brave one day and asked why the first report must be done in person, and the IO said because we need to see your entry stamp. There seems to be limited connection between border control and immigration offices.

That's correct.

The national database that records departures and entries at entry checkpoints is completely separate from the internal local database that deal with 90 day reporting.

Whilst it's a local IO that approves an online 90 day report, it's the computer that generates the next due 90 day report.

When you travel to another Country and return, you break the 90 day cycle, the next report being due 89 days after reentering Thailand.
You have to report in person so the local IO can reset the next due date in the computer, to keep it in sync.

No wonder some folk refer to Thailand as not up to normal world standards.

Wasn't always like that, though; I can certainly recall occasions when I was able to file a 90-day report online following a trip abroad. So we presumably have some clueless IT programming "genius" employed by the Immigration Bureau to "thank" for this retrograde step.

You still can if you enter the previous entry date to the latest entry date on the due report date.

I tried that on my last entry after visit to Saigon. (March 1)

You have to submit on the computer generated report date, not 89 days after reentry (or 14 days before).

When online reporting was first introduced, an IO told me to state the first entry date.

Even though I departed and re-entered on a couple of occasions over the next few years, online was always accepted because I'd put the original date of entry, and continued to report on the computer generated report date.

It was an eagle eyed IO that spotted the error some years later, and informed me to put the latest entry date.
Of course once you put a new entry date and submit, it doesn't match the information in the computer > rejected.

Submitted based on generated report date.

Also another time when I had actually departed and still out of Thailand.

Also other variations just to check for AN readers.

I have never had success.
