PHUKET: -- Police are hunting for an unknown number of suspects for the murder of the president of the Patong tuk-tuk drivers’ club earlier this morning.

Sakol Srisompoch, 57, was found shot dead inside his tuk-tuk, which was parked in the middle of the road in front of King Kong Party Club, on Phra Phuket Kaew Road.

Police were alerted to the shooting about 3:10am.

“Mr Sakol was on his way home after work when the incident occurred. There were four wounds on his left arm, one on his back and another on his chest. There were also several bullet holes in the window and windshield of his tuk-tuk,” said Capt Wattanathorn Bamroongthin of Kathu Police.

Mr Sakol's body was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital.

If that's a tuk tuk I could probably be santa claus

That's what the latest model Tuk Tuk in Phuket looks like - a Suzuki

This happened a stones throw from my place and I knew nothing about it until this afternoon.

This morning I saw someone on a motorbike get run over by a huge dumper truck about 1.5km from this shooting and right outside a school - looked like the person died instantly :-(

A sad day for Kathu and Phuket. Condolences to both sets of relatives.

...doesn't look like a tuk-tuk.....

...but maybe he was 'calling the shots' in that capacity.....

...and somebody objected......

...no room for others' success......

...or competition.....

Not a good way to start your morning.

Hopefully there will not be any triumphal posts despite the man's occupation.

For many tourists from around the world, and for the families of the many who have died on Phuket's roads, they will probably see this as "justice."
