Social media outpouring after Pattani bombing

Monday blast killed one and injured 18 as links to Tak Bai incident speculated

 

PATTANI: -- FOLLOWING Monday’s bomb attack on a noodle shop near a night market in Pattani’s Muang district, which led to one death and 18 injuries, messages of encouragement have been posted on social media supporting Mathayom 6 student Narisara Makchuchit, whose leg was amputated due to her injuries. 


The student from Demonstration School of Prince of Songkla University’s Pattani campus was transferred from Pattani Hospital to the better-equipped Songkhlanagarind Hospital in Songkhla’s Hat Yai district where she underwent the operation. She was reported yesterday to be in stable condition.

and strange, some thais claim by high & low there are no muslim terrorists in thailand ... or ... we don't have a muslim problem as in your country

Arguably, it's not a 'Muslim problem' but a secessionist movement. I've known several ethnic Thai Muslims who do not identify at all with the southern insurgents... remember that they are ethnic Malays who feel no attachment to the state of Thailand. So while they are also predominantly Muslim, we should not assume that religion in the driving force in this conflict (though the religious difference would exacerbate the conflict).

It is not a religion problem mostly, have a look at the History of the region

I read this on the bottom of Channel News Asia on Monday but could find no references till now which is strange. Maybe the government did not release it because it would hurt tourism.
