Hi all, thought it worth posting.  I am currently in Toronto and I have a British passport only - no Canadian passport.  I was under the impression that I could only obtain an METV in the UK because I'm British but I went to the Thai consulate here this morning and they accepted my application for an METV and said the fact that I was not Canadian was not an issue.  I have to say also, that the Thai consulate here in Toronto is the nicest Thai consulate I've ever seen - and I've seen many - it looks like someone's living room.  There was no one else there applying.  They even had a dog!  So I guess you don't necessarily have to go to your home country to get one.  I don't know if it's only Toronto that is more easy-going and allows Brits to get them.  I should have asked when I was there what other nationalities can obtain an METV here.  I told them I would pick up on Thursday as I'M too busy tomorrow to go and pick up so I will ask then and update after that.

Thanks for the report.

Canada, the US and Australia do not have as strict requirements for residency that most other embassies and consulates have. Yours is the first for Canada that proves it I think.
