Soi Siam Country Club roadwork to last 5 more months

The reconstruction of Soi Siam Country Club has entered is second phase, but disruption and inconvenience will last until April.

PATTAYA:-- The reconstruction of Soi Siam Country Club has entered is second phase, but disruption and inconvenience will last until April.

East Pattaya residents on Oct. 20 complained to the media that the project that began in January seems to have stalled and they are upset with the detours, mud and puddles created by the reconstruction of the kilometer-long road.

The 67-million-baht job began on Jan. 25 and is scheduled for completion on April 4. When done, the street will be 10.5 meters wide and a quarter-meter thick.

Surprised the half a road that is still open has survived this long with the ground underneath it being washed away - only a matter of time before it collapses.

Looks like a copy from the news I just read about road works in Jomtien. Only the dates are different.

Like many infrastructure projects in LoS, they can't complete it on schedule because the money for the project has mysteriously gone missing.

And 3 months after it is finished they will dig it all up again to lay new drainage pipes.

Living in a village on the dark side for years. Within a year some 15 out of 26 tenants moved out of their rented houses and the houses are empty - the Thai owners must be seriously happy about this.
My landlord came to me and offered me a discount if I would extend my lease. I told him I'll continue at the present terms for the next five years; he was truly very happy.

As long as Thais do not understand that they are being screwed by their own country men - they will never move into the 21st century. The government, municipality and city hall is here for the people and not the other way round ...........

So True

From the headline I thought the roadworks would last 5 months and need redoing.

Useless management results in a bad operation. This is normal procedure here.

Some parts of the remaining road are completely unsupported. Presumably there is no-one willing to take responsibility for preventing the inevitable accident.
