BANGKOK: -- Heaps of fading funeral flowers people brought in to mourn the passing of the late King around the Grand Palace will be recycled as organic fertilizers, Mr Passakorn Pojjiraporn, director of Saranrom Park, disclosed yesterday.

The recycling of funeral flowers was agreed after a meeting yesterday how to manage a large piles of funeral flowers collected from around the Grand Palace.

It was agreed that fading funeral flowers would be sent to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s King Rama 9 Park’s Organic Fertilizer Learning Centre for recycling.

Mr Passakorn said that 400 bags of faded flowers were collected and sorted at the park daily by 100 workers working around the clock in shifts.

But due to the large amounts of flowers collected daily, the 23-rai  park couldn’t handle the recycling by itself, prompting it to turn to a bigger park at King Rama 9 park which has over 500 rai of areas.

The finished organic fertilizers would then be sent to over 20 parks in the capital for use.
