Social Development and Human Security Ministry’s service points distribute wrist bands with contact information to children

BANGKOK, 28 October 2016 (NNT) – The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MDHS) has set up service points at Sanam Luang in front of Mahathat Yuwarat Rangsarit temple to service the mourning public, especially the elderly and children.

Social Development and Human Security Minister Adul Saengsingkaew said that he is concerned about the MDHS’s target groups including the elderly, the disabled and especially children who might get separated from their family.

In order to prevent children from getting lost, the ministry is distributing identification wrist bands to children. Parents are to write their children’s name, last name and their contact number on the wrist bands. The MDHS’s service points in Sanam Luang in front of Mahathat Yuwarat Rangsarit temple will be distributing the identification wrist bands to the general public, he said.

He went on to say that parents are advised to immediately inform the police if they become separated from their children, so that authorities can swiftly dispatch a search party. For more information and assistance.

The general public can contact the Hotline 1300 around the clock.

Are the wrist bands the leftovers from the failed idea to be mandatory for foreign tourists? In  that case they may be over sized.

Hmm...you know I'm not so sure that's such a good idea.

I think there may also be a demand for these wrist bands for some self styled Very Important People. Some of them on occasion, when stopped by police, roll out the usual question "Do you know who I am?" Now the cops can easily tell them.

They will claim that this scheme has been so successful that it will be rolled out (with additional information of course, such as Passport number, age etc) to include all tourists and expats and not on a voluntary basis, as it will all be done for our own good.  :whistling:
