My Windows 10 did an update recently (and added Candy Corn Crush something-or-other) and after that when using Chrome to fill in some things either there was very slow keyboard lag or I just couldn't enter text at all. When trying to log into one of my credit card websites, for example, I had no problem, but on a different credit card website I could not enter user name or password. When using Google search I have no problem, but for some things if I want to modify the search text, I can't.

So I did a system restore to before the update (and deleted Candy Crush) and all was back to normal.

Then a couple of days ago there was another MS Windows 10 update and once again the keyboard lag in Chrome (and again Candy Corn Crush app). No problem when accessing the same websites in IE, just Chrome.

Anyone else? Any solutions aside from turning off automatic MS updates? Thanks.

Try Chrome without any extensions running first:

Run Chrome with the --disable-extensions command-line option to disable extensions.

If that's OK then it's an extension that's probably the cause.

Another poster reported problems with AdBlock... are you using that?

Yep, Adblock and extensions can very well be the problem, but there is unfortunately another thing that´s not much to do with.
Windows 10 simply gets slow with Chrome after a while. I have the same problem, and many with me.
Just change to Mozilla Firefox, which today is a very good browser, and the problems are all gone.

Thanks. Checked on extensions and AdBlock.  Found some extensions I knew nothing about and disabled them. Didn't find AdBlock. Still have the problem.

I guess I can cope, but it's very annoying.

Did you try it with all extensions disabled?

What exactly is "a while" because I've been using Chrome on Windows 10 since the first Technical preview, I use it now on the latest Insider previews, and I have not experienced this at all.

Yes, I disabled all extensions and plug-ins. Things worked normally for a moment and then the problem returned. I only have one extension ... "High Contrast."

As an example.  if I did a Google search for Thai Visa I'd end up with this below and I could still type or edit in the address bar at the top, but not in the space next to Google, or if I did type there it would take 30 seconds to a minute before anything appeared. Obviously for this it isn't a real problem, but in some websites I can't fill in usernames or passwords or other things using Chrome. If I switch to IE, I don't have that problem.

The problem first arose following an automatic Windows 10 update. I did a system restore before the update and everything was OK. Then there was another Windows 10 update and I had the same problem.

I have Win10 last version insider and Chrome beta. All is perfect . I think you have changed a tuning inadvertently. Here's what I would do in your situation:

  1 - Settings Chrome
  - Show advanced settings (last line)
  - Reset the settings (last line also)

2 - Chrome update:  Setting, about ... Check that you have a 64-bit last version

3 - If the problem persists check the keyboard parameters in control panel, menu "Clock language, and region." If possible, remove all keyboards and languages other than the primary.

4 - If nothing succeeds, you will have to download Chrome (64 bits), uninstall the current version and reinstall.

I can not say any time that is going to satisfy you, bacause you not experienced the problem. I just knoe that it+s windows that is doing it, because i am a hacker and programmer since 17 years back in time. Have also been tweaking windows in all versions possible.

I just hope that is going to satisfy you. Otherwise we just have to make it a go, nd just tell me what you wnat to knoe about, and I will find it.

Well then gosh, I'll just have to bow to your superior knowledge, won't I?

Alternatively, I could suggest that your solution (switching to Firefox) doesn't really offer much help.

Possibly solutions to laggy Chrome include:

- Not running BitDefender

- Turning off Hardware acceleration

- Removing AdBlock

- Disabling Hardware Acceleration

- Removing Skype to Call

All of these solutions have been found by people trying to solve their specific problem.

Switching to Firefox may be a solution for some if they can't be arsed troubleshooting properly, but since I prefer Chrome and I don't have any of these issues, I don't really see the point.

The first thing I'd do is make sure you're on the latest version:  Version 54.0.2840.87 m

The second thing, which in my experience is the cause of probably 80%+ of Chrome problems, is troubleshooting extensions.

No please, that was not what I meant at all. Everyone can have a good solution. It´s just that I fund that one to be the best.
I have been working much with writing for att website shop, and eventually I ran into the same problem like everyone else.
The salvation for me was firefox, and I have rekommended that with high success.

Of course there is a sulotion for Chrome too, but the way of working it out for real was to long for me.

I have the latest version, and only have Adblock active on the pages that I want it to be active on.

How ever if you would like to go in to how you configure Chrome to be an effektive browser, I am always there to assist you.
On the other hand I do really believe that you know as much as me, or maybe even more.

It's not a question of "configuring it to be an effektive <sic> browser". It's a question of troubleshooting problems.

If you are installing various software or extensions/plugins, you'll occasionally have these problems.

What are you going to do when FireFox plays up? Switch to Opera?
