We, the family, regularly come down from Ubon to stay in a hotel near Ban Phe. But on every occasion we make the 17K trek to Laem Mae Phim to our favourite Italilian restaurant "LA CAPANNA"

The range of Italian food and wine is exquisite and the affable owner, Marco, kindly lets the kids eat crab or other seafood from next door.

One of the best Bruschettas in Thailand, and the pasta is cooked perfectly al denti ... can't wait to get back.

With the sun setting it makes for the perfect supper.

Time for  a visit to Franco at Spago, Ubon methinks!!

Went last night to the Capanna and as the OP said it was outstanding. Spaghetti Amatricana the best I've had. There is also a comprehensive Thai menu for the family members with no yearning for Western food!! Good selection of wines, huge pizza menu
