  • You just fill out the credit/debit card form to submit with your application at Trendy. The payment will not be processed until it gets to the UK. If there is a problem they will contact you about it.

No they don't. They  only accept credit/debit cards. Go through the steps here to find info: https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports

An option might be to arrange a prepaid debit card. Info here about them: http://www.theukcardsassociation.org.uk/individual/Why-prepaid-card.asp Then do a search for companies offering them.

why dont you do what i DONE,got intouch with keyvisa of pattaya.

you can download the passport apllication forms, fill them in,send to darren at keyvisa,i got a relative to pay for the passport via the filled in credit card form, they sent the details by e-mail to keyvisa and i paid my relative the cost of the passport.

now for the keyvisa cost, you fill in the application forms, send it to them with your old passport by ems. they will go to bangkok and apply for the passport, they will also go and collect it for you,so saving 4bus rides.and they will collect your new passport for you and send it to your house.only traveling you need to do is back and fo to the PO.

NOW KEYVISA COST 5,000bht. plus 100bht.for your new passport to be sent to you, with your old one.

saved me 4bus rides to bkk. plus taxi from bus station in bkk.bus travel from the house to pick up the bus, plus the wait and service at the passport office.is that not an easy way?

The lady said that most Thai bank cards are 'red-flagged'.

whaaaat? its difficult enough the procedure, travelling time, making appointments etc

they compound it by making it hard to pay for it

ive written to the uk pport office and if their reply isnt satisfactory i will demand

they produce a list of redflagged cards and acceptable cards

i dont know a single british citizen i can ask for them to use their card in thailand

Real Credit Cards, UK Debit Cards, Kasikorn KWeb Shopping Card - these are the only ones that will definitely work.

Trendy just take the payment form, they don't check, process or verify it in any way, it's just forwarded to HMPO Liverpool with your other papers.

Payment is processed in Liverpool , not Thailand - same process as for a UK mail order payment - there's no option for an OTP with Thai Debit Cards.

Mostly, you will be just wasting your time messing around with Thai Debit Cards, generally they don't work in the UK for UK passport applications.

That's your choices, bitter though the pill may be.

Going by the quoted post and an earlier one I think things have changed. Perhaps the passport office changed their process so they will work now.

i posted earlier i sent an email to the uk pport office asking if a SCB debit card

would be accepted they replied with this

it means they are not willing to help us unfortunates

Thank you for your enquiry.

If you wish to apply for, renew or replace a British passport and you are resident outside of the UK you will need to use the following link:

www.gov.uk/overseas-passports

The following is an extract from gov.uk relating to Thailand:

How long it takes

Your application should take 4 weeks from when it’s received by Her Majesty’s Passport Office in the UK.

You may have to attend an interview.

Applications will take longer if:

  • Her Majesty’s Passport Office needs to ask you for more information or documents
  • the photographs you send are rejected

my friend (usa) filled out his e-application for an indian visa

when he put his bank debit card details in and completed that part he pressed enter

and was told they could not process his card (kasicorn)

there was an error. he googled it and was informed that the card had to have

an additional action done to be able to transfer money overseas

he had to go to his bank and ask for a one time only "extension" amounting

to the exact figure he was transferring. the bank did that. they sent him a special

code to put on the visa application

and only then did the visa office accept the money

does anyone recognize this way of doing it?

I don't want to sound negative but you have had many replies on here, with at least a couple of banks that do work ( Bangkok bank, kasikorn).

At the end of the day it is your responsibility to ensure you have a valid passport and visa.

As I said before, the minimum you need to do is pay the 350 baht to get your scb debit card, unless you do this you will never know if it works or not.

If this fails then as mentioned before, going through an agency which will cost you a bit more but guarantee your passport arrives to you is probably the way forward.

Have read before of BKK Bank Debit Cards working with HMPO, if suitably enabled.

The SCB Virtual Credit Card definitely doesn't work with HMPO.

There is no new advice on the HMPO Web site re payment methods for Thailand (last updated 31st October 2016).

I would still stick to my original advice re using real credit cards, UK Debit Cards or Kasikorn K-WEB Shopping Card, all of which work fine.

(n.b. Credit/UK Debit Card requires suitable authorisation/signature, but does not need to be in your name).

If one tries another method and it draws a blank then HMPO Liverpool will phone/email you to try and figure out a payment method that will work.

Still cannot see how a Thai OTP enabled debit card will work for any payment made in the UK.

My Bangkok bank debit card is otp enabled however this only comes into affect if the person trying to take the money is enabled on the visa verification programme, if they are not then otp is not required

yes, i did see that post about the agency. the price is very reasonable, i would actually save

money doing it that way. and not have to sit in buses for 50 solid hours. i must find out

more about this way

this debit card uncertainty makes me want to put off getting a new passport till theres only

a few days left on it

thanks for your encouragement, man

When I checked a few years ago, SCB were only issuing "Visa Electron" debit cards. These are essentially useless for payments outside Thailand.

I have paid for a UK passport using a K-Bank K-Web shopping card, a debit card designed for making purchases online. I attached it to an account with a very limited balance. Whenever I want to make a purchase, I transfer enough money into the account to meet immediate needs. This means that my exposure (which concerns me with online purchases) is almost nil.
