BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha gave an assurance yesterday that the new constitution would be promulgated in line with the schedule set out in the 2014 interim charter.

The government would still seek royal endorsement by November 9. And the new King would consider it for 90 days before signing it, he said.

thanks, message received.

After rereading and comparing this message to the previous 50+ identical statements I have finally found a question:

what if there is something unplanned?

Would this be the same charter which was approved by a 'well-managed' referendum?

Was there ever any doubt it wouldn't go ahead ?

Look at all the work that went into preparing the perfect document for the public to approve and all the little amendments announced after the referendum but inherent in the vote were just to make things even better.

You are not allowed to venture an opinion on better for whom !

'Hey, nobody wanted elections more than me, but...' is what happens.

I am sure unforseen circumstances are being planned currently.

Forget the politicians. They're put there to give you the idea you have freedom of choice. You don't. You have one choice.

Take it or leave it !!!!

Actually, the populous cannot leave it, so it's just one "choice".

How can he get lost he has a road map. Nothing is left to guesswork. His 20 year or so roadmap will the country's political straight jacket. You will need a public hero like Aung San Suu Kyi to dismantle it a brick at a time. I see no one in the wings to fit that description.

This assurance by Prayut should be seen as good news on two fronts.

Firstly, and with respect, though Thais will continue to mourn their beloved late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, they can also look towards celebrating the confirmation of Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn as the new King of Thailand in the near future. Hopefully too, this will help their grieving.

Secondly, it also signals the possibility of elections still being held at the end of 2017. The Thai business community (and foreign investors) will not be unhappy with this statement by Prayut.
