BANGKOK: -- ALL FREE-TO-AIR TV broadcasters are preparing to resume normal programming as well as paid commercials with full colour on November 14, after getting a green light from the government on Tuesday for revised media guidelines during the national mourning period.

Kematat Paladesh, president |of the Radio and Television Broadcasting Professional Federa-tion, said yesterday that in preparation for this greater flexibility, members of his federation, along with representatives from the Association of Digital TV Broadcasting (Thailand) and the Media Agency Association of Thailand (MAAT), had agreed to revise their guidelines for the industry.

“General TV programmes such as soap operas, foreign TV series, variety and game shows and music competitions, live sport telecasts and TV commercials can be fully returned to normalcy on November 14,” he said.

The wife will be happy! She's a soap opera addict. I wish they could put English subtitles on soap operas. I'd like to see what fascinates my wife as well. Plus we could watch television together instead of her disappearing upstairs to watch Thai TV and myself watching Netflix downstairs.

Wilsonandson;  you are dreaming. Who will create English subtitles that make sense?

Thai movies in the cinema have English subtitles sometimes. I watch lots of movies with foreign languages with English subtitles. With the adanvced technology we have these days I'd have thought creating subtitles for a Thai soap opera could be easily achieved. I have watched many Thai movies with subtitles and really enjoyed them, it's also a great way to learn some extra Thai. Some of the mourning television programmers have been in English audio and some with English subtitles. Living in Thailand I want to immerse myself in all things Thai to help me understand the language, culture and people of my favorite country.

I have tried the subtitle route but always seem to fall asleep and when waking up ask the g/f what happened and she always says "The butler did it"

I quite like it when the Mrs disappears into the bedroom to watch her soaps, I see more than enough of her during the day
