BANGKOK, 4 November 2016 (NNT) - The Royal Thai Police (RTP) instructed police officers to ensure the public's safety and facilitate traffic during 2016 Loy Krathong festival. 

The RTP has instructed all of its units to provide safety and conveniences to the public during Loy Krathong festival on 14 November. Police officers in each area were instructed to patrol areas which are vulnerable to criminal activity including venues scheduled to host Loy Krathong festivities with large crowds participating. 

Loy Krathong Festival celebrants are also advised to refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages while driving, even as passengers, avoid gatherings in large numbers and to leave their valuables at home. Patrol boats will be deployed at rivers near Loy Krathong venues in case of an emergency. 

The public is asked to strictly comply with safety guidelines. The use of firecrackers or fireworks is prohibited in community areas, including the release of floating lanterns. Parents are advised to closely keep their eyes on their children.

BANGKOK: -- As the 30-day mourning period is to end November 13, the Royal Thai Police yesterday issued instructions for police across the country to tighten security and prepare to ensure the people celebrate the upcoming Loy Krathong festival with safety and convenience.

 

The Loy Krathong festival is allowed to be celebrated on November 14 but with appropriateness to the situation after the passing of the beloved Great King Bhumibol Adulyadej on October 13.

 

Under RTP’s instruction for police to ensure public’s safety and facilitate traffic during 2016 Loy Krathong festival, .

According to NNT, the RTP has instructed all police officers in each area to step up security patrols in areas which are vulnerable to criminal activity including venues scheduled to host Loy Krathong festivities with large crowds participating.

 

Celebrants of the festival will also be advised to refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages while driving, even as passengers, avoid gatherings in large numbers and to leave their valuables at home.
