I have a u.s. passport.

I have been here this time in Thailand for the duration of

a multi entry visa which I got over seas

then a single entry visa in Savanakhet almost three months ago.

 

If it matters,

I was gone overseas for 5 months

before coming back to Thailand.

 

Previously,

I was here for 1 and a half years.

 

A few months ago,

I read that going across the border to Laos

one could no longer get another single entry visa.

 

I went to Savanakhet,

because I heard it is fairly easy to get another visitors or tourist visa.

I was fortunate to last time.

 

My visa ends the 27th of this month.

Can I still go to Savanakhet and be assured of getting another single entry visa back into Thailand?

 

If no, is there an alternative?

You can get another single entry tourist visa in Savannakhet without a problem since it will only be your 2nd visa from them.
