Changing from Non-B to Non-O Retirement Extension of Stay

I have been working in Phuket for the last 15 years with a Non-B Extension of Stay and a work permit.  I intend to close the company and retire and move to a Non-O retirement extension of stay.  Is there an easy path for this or does one have to hand in the work permit (basically sacking myself) then re-apply for a Non-O extension to stay right from the start?

I would appreciate some guidance from those who have done this as there must be a strategic order that everything needs to be done for best effect?

Is there a simple transfer from one to the other?

You can change the reason for your extension to working as soon as you stop working. Your current extension would have to canceled and then you would apply for an extension based upon  retirement.
